House of Tibet

Recently Chase and I enjoyed the food at our favorite little Tibetan restaurant. Well, the only Tibetan restaurant I've ever been to, or seen in Salt Lake for that matter. But, I feel I have to give a little shout out to this place, because it's so great. It's owned by a family who came to the US in 1990 when the government granted visas to 1,000 displaced Tibetans. I know the mother of the family from working at LDS Hospital. The hospital offered English classes to employees who needed them, and asked for volunteer mentors to help them with reading, etc. So I helped her with reading, writing, spelling, etc. a couple of times a week for about a year. She worked so hard at learning English and she is such a sweet person. When I found out her family owned a restaurant, Chase and I went and tried it. If you've never had Tibetan food, you should try this place. They have lots of great vegetarian options (but they have meat too). It's sort of like a mix of Indian and Chinese/Thai...lots of potatoes, curry, cilantro, noodles...my favorite thing they have are these bread dumplings stuffed with sweet cheese...I can't even describe them. But please try this place! It's on 13th south between State Street and 200 East. It's usually not too busy, which means you get great personal service from the owners! Anyone want to go out to lunch?

Love it

I love being married. I never thought that I would hear myself say that. For a few reasons...now here I am, saying it out loud to myself. (Okay, I'm not actually saying it out loud, because I'm the only one in the room...and that would just be silly.) But I do, I actually love being married. I know that is the kind of sappy thing that single people hate to hear married people say, which is one of the reasons I could never picture myself saying it. But forgive me, I guess I feel that I deserve the little indulgence of being able to say that I love being married. There, I've said it.
